Structures Rep/Office Engineer/Project Manager

CME is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (CA) with a background in Construction Management/Structures/Resident Engineering/Inspection for an upcoming project in East Contra Costa County. The successful candidate will provide program/project/construction management and oversight services for civil engineering projects, with a heavy emphasis on large transportation projects.

This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop and employ program management skills including those related to state-of-the-art cost tracking and eConstruction tools and techniques. Further, training on using and integrating visual communications tools in the context of program and construction management will be provided.

Previous Caltrans Construction Management experience is highly desired. The position will be required to learn and employ CME’s Project Management Software Solution and training will be provided. The successful candidate may be required to work on multiple concurrent projects and will be transitioned into a part-time or full-time project/program management role.

Day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Managing and overseeing the work of construction contractors and construction managers
  • Managing and tracking budgets and schedules, including those of federally funded projects
  • Attending meetings with owners, contractors, stakeholders, and construction managers
  • Preparing staff reports
  • Preparing proposals
  • Conducting site visits
  • Providing inspection services
  • Traveling to work locations in the East Bay, North Bay, or San Francisco
  • Other items not mentioned here

 Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Current CA Professional Engineer License
  • Knowledge of Caltrans methods, processes, and requirements
  • 5+ years of construction experience, either professional services or contractor work
  • Experience managing federally funded projects
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Ability to create and maintain cooperative partnerships among project participants while ensuring achievement of the owner’s goals
  • AAA for public agencies
  • Adobe Creative Suite desired, but not required

Salary: $175k to $190k/year
Bonus: 10% of Salary
Vacation: 15 Days/Year accrued monthly
