CCTA, in cooperation with the MTC, Caltrans, and the FHWA, is constructing 11 new miles of express lane on southbound I-680 from south of Marina Vista Avenue in Martinez to Rudgear Road in Walnut Creek. Of the 11 miles, 8 miles of an existing HOV/Carpool lane are being converted to an express lane and the remaining 3 miles are being constructed as a new HOV/Carpool lane that will open as an express lane. This lane will connect to MTC’s express lane between Walnut Creek and San Ramon providing 24 miles of continuous express lane in Contra Costa County between Martinez and the Alameda County line. This $160 million project includes installation of lighting and tolling equipment (electronic toll tag readers), signage (static and dynamic) and sign structures, re-striping and new lane markers, and upgrading CHP enforcement capabilities. CME helped develop the project specifications and assisted the Authority in advertising and awarding the construction contract. Currently, CME is performing oversight of the design and construction management firms hired by the Authority for the construction phase of the project. This includes budget and schedule analysis and using Clarizen for project controls. CME is in close contact with project partners and stakeholders in order to streamline the decision making process.
